The Gaily News: DC Comics' gay superheroes

Following the drama of Proposition 8 in the courtroom, a staged reading based on the 2010 trial will premiere on Broadway in September. Nationwide productions of the play, 8, will follow shortly.

On Monday, the U.S. Senate confirmed the first openly gay man as a federal judge.

DC Comics will introduce several LGBT characters in their own titles this fall. The company is attempting to establish a wider range of diversity in an overhaul of its entire line of comics by releasing 52 all new #1 issues in September. LGBT characters include lesbians Batwoman and The Question, the bisexual Voodoo, and Apollo and Midnighter, a gay superhero couple.
