The Gaily News: Did Nixon have a gay affair?

In the upcoming Nixon's Darkest Secrets, former reporter Don Fulsom relies on recently revealed documents and various eye-witness accounts of the pair holding hands, occasionally in public, and other eyebrow-raising scenarios. The book also describes the homophobic Nixon as a functioning alcoholic who regularly beat his wife.

A Chicago cardinal is defending his recent comparison of the LGBT community to the Ku Klux Klan. His original comments came while discussing the issue of whether a gay pride parade to be held next summer would interrupt morning services at a nearby church. Though he originally softened his remarks, he decided to stir up the controversy once again by trying to explain them.

“Organizers [of the pride parade] invited an obvious comparison to other groups who have historically attempted to stifle the religious freedom of the Catholic Church,” Cardinal Francis George said in a statement. “One such organization is the Ku Klux Klan which, well into the 1940s, paraded through American cities not only to interfere with Catholic worship but also to demonstrate that Catholics stand outside of the American consensus. It is not a precedent anyone should want to emulate.”

Ron Paul's latest big endorsement comes from a minister even more homophobic than he is. After Paul touted the endorsement of Nebraska's Reverend Phillip Kayser, it's been reported that Kayser supports the death penalty for gays and lesbians. His justification? The Bible, naturally.

Meanwhile, just last week, it came out that past newsletters written in Paul's name featured racist and homophobic comments, while a former staffer revealed that Paul is personally uncomfortable in the presence of gays.

  • New book alleges that Richard Nixon, right, had a gay affair with best friend Bebe Rebozo, left.

Turns out Watergate might not have been his biggest scandal. A new book by a former White House correspondent alleges that former President Richard Nixon had a long-term gay affair with his best friend, Bebe Rebozo, a Mafia-connected banker.
