The Gaily News: US will continue denying green cards to same-sex couples, Malaysian gay-themed movie surprises at the box office, Indiana state senate votes against gay marriage, Perez Hilton writes his first children's book

A controversial gay-themed movie in Malaysia became a surprising box-office success there, bringing in more than 1 million ringgit (the equivalent of $322,580) within its first five days. Film censors and critics typically are against gay-themed movies, unless lgbt characters repent or are killed. Lady Gaga recently condemned radio censors in pre-dominantly Muslim Malayasia for blurring the lyrics to her new gay anthem "Born This Way."

The Indiana state senate approved an amendment to its constitution that would ban same-sex marriage in a 40-10 vote. The proposed amendment would also quash all future possibilities of civil unions being permitted in the state.

Openly gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has penned his first children's book. With The Boy with the Pink Hair, Hilton intends to celebrate children's individuality and self-acceptance, as well as acceptance of others.

Despite announcing earlier in the week that there would be a hold on denying green cards to bi-national same-sex married couples, immigration officials announced they would lift the hold after receiving legal guidance on the issue.
