The hidden market for tighter condoms: loose rubbers cause big problems

A recent study by the Kinsey Institute found that men are 50% more likely to discard a condom during sex if it isn’t tight enough. Furthermore, loose condoms greatly increase the risk of STDs and pregnancy.

This study was based on a survey conducted by the journal, Sexually Transmitted Infections. Of the 436  men polled, 45% claimed they used condoms that were too large in the past three months. These men were 50% more likely to report condom breaks, slips, difficulty reaching climax, and condom removal halfway through coitus.

The problem is, aside from Magnums which are marketed to men with larger than average penises, most condoms are one-size-fits-all. Variations exist, especially with the rubber's shape, but no company has ever successfully marketed "small" or "medium" condoms. Why, because most men already feel insecure that they aren't buying Magnums.

Now I know you, dear reader, have a huge penis like me. But we all have friends who have experienced condom slippage and who may benefit from tighter condoms. To save our friends the embarrassment of googling small condoms, I found some helpful tips on Tampa's own CondomDepot.com. Along with passing along this info, tell your friend he's not alone. Condom Depot's most asked questions concern tighter fitting condoms.

If you're buying condoms at the store, you have to interpret the subtext of enticing advertising lingo. Tighter condoms are usually advertised in terms that suggest heightened sexual pleasure, which a snugger condom will do, especially considering you won’t have to worry as much about chafing, slipping, or breaking. Also, unless your penis is unusually long, a condom's width is the main thing you need to look for. Most condoms are made long. Just stop unrolling it when it hits the base of your penis.

Something just a bit snugger: Crown Skinless SkinCondom Depot’s number 1 rated condom for the past decade, perhaps because many men aren't used to condoms that actually fit. Crown condoms are average length and slightly smaller in width. Most importantly, these condoms are the most sensitive on the market and have an extremely low failure rate.

Smaller American condoms: Lifestyles Snugger Fit Condoms, Contempo Exotica, or The Iron Grip Condom. These are both shorter and narrower than your average condom marketed to Americans.

Average length but smaller width: Bravo Wicked Thin Condoms. Bravos are super sensitive and lack a latex scent.

Sensitive smaller condoms: Anything Japanese, which are smaller and thinner than American rubbers. Try the Kimono Micro Thin Line, The Beyond Seven Line (which may be good for people worried about being judged by their condom wrapper), and Crown Condoms.
