Business Workshops
SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) of Hillsborough County offers Going Into Business Workshops every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the year. Topics include initial considerations to starting a business, financial management, marketing and business plan outlines. Times vary; workshops cost $20. Centre For Women Workshops
The Centre For Women offers workshops on everything from anger management to interview preparation to getting your G.E.D., in addition to support groups. Film Screening
The museum screens two dark holiday films. Franz Kafka: It's a Wonderful Life is an award-winning black comedy about the famous author suffering writer's block on Christmas Eve. A new booklet put out by the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance dispels the myth that talking about suicide is harmful. Senior Volunteers Needed
Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay has positions available throughout Hillsborough for volunteers to serve at-risk and special-needs children in schools or frail elderly folks in their homes. Seniors over 60 who volunteer 20 hours per week receive a tax-free stipend of $53 per week. Breast Cancer Support Group
H. Lee Moffitt hosts FACTors (Fighting Against Cancer Together), a nonprofit breast cancer support group, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the first Saturday of each month in the Moffitt Research Center Auditorium. The group's open to patients, family, friends, caregivers, women at risk and others. A bimonthly newsletter and meeting flyer are available upon request. Children and Divorce
Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida team up to teach parents how to ease stress and the effects of divorce on children. Weekly, four-hour courses take place at the USF-Tampa campus, and the HCC-Dale Mabry and Brandon campuses. The course costs $35. Call 813-253-7981 to register.
