In an effort to halt the spread of coronavirus and facilitate opening “the St. Pete way,” City Officials are requiring an online reservation for entry to the long-awaited St. Pete Pier, which officially opens Monday, July 6.

The online ticket reservation requirement will last through the pier’s opening week, according to a press release by the city of St. Petersburg.

Proof of reservation by either phone or a printed document is required and it will be processed through touch-free scanning, according to the release. Individual tickets and group tickets can be found on its website. Visitors must all live in the same household to be eligible for group tickets. 

Officials recommend parking in the Sundial Garage located at 117 2nd Street N. on opening day. Beginning Tuesday, July 7, parking will be available at the Dolphin and Pelican parking for $2 an hour for the first four hours, according to the release.

On Monday, June 22, Mayor Rick Kriseman signed a mandatory order requiring face masks be worn inside St. Petersburg businesses. According to the release, guests are required to wear facemasks “when social distancing is not possible,” in accordance with the mandatory order by Kriseman. 

The release also lists safety precautions to limit the spread of coronavirus, including:

  • ‘Six (6) feet’ Social Distancing signage will be provided for the Marketplace and other various locations throughout the District
  • Maximum Occupancy load of ‘Four (4) persons max’ signage provided for Pier Head elevators
  • Personal hygiene and hand washing signage will be provided for Pier Head & Pavilion public restrooms
  • ier restaurants and cafes are strongly encouraged to follow guidelines for Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association
  • The city will be adhering to all CDC guidelines and recommendations as they change
  • Guests are required to wear cloth face coverings/masks where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, such as The Discovery Center, Restaurants, etc. In all other areas of the St. Pete Pier, the city strongly encourages visitors to wear cloth face coverings/masks.
  • The city strongly encourage guests to remain home if they are experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19
  • St. Pete Pier amenities and restaurants will be in compliance with existing and future state, county, and municipal orders.
