For the sixth and final show of its 83rd season, St. Petersburg Little Theatre stages Frederick Knott's 1966 thriller, Wait Until Dark. The heroine is Susy Hendrix, a recently blind housewife who is relearning how to live like a normal person with her photographer husband, Sam. Things get complicated, however, when Sam returns from a business trip with a doll given to him by a mysterious stranger. Of course, said doll contains quite a bit of heroin, and Sam has become the unwitting courier. Enter Harry Roat, a cunning, cold-blooded criminal who has traced the doll back to the couple's NYC apartment. Unfortunately for Roat, the doll goes missing pretty much upon arrival, so breaking in and grabbing it is not an option. Roat's solution? Enlist the help of two crooked associates and concoct an elaborate scheme of deception in order to gain Susy's trust and persuade her to give the doll to them willingly. Will Susy see (no pun intended) through Roat's scheme, or will her disability leave her at a disadvantage? Find out this weekend. Through June 29, 8 p.m. Fri., 2 and 8 p.m. Sat., 2 p.m. Sun., 4025 31st St. S., St. Petersburg, $18 adults/$10 students, 727-866-1973, splt.org.
