The Tampa Bay Times is a very serious Journalism outlet that is doing a seriously good job keeping us all updated on the ins and outs of Hurricane Idalia.

But the ins and outs of something else are on readers’ minds after seeing the publication’s recent infographic encouraging readers to “Track Tropical Storm Idalia’s path in Florida.”

The graphic is about hurricane force winds. And while it’s very likely that Times Data Editor Langston Taylor was just trying to do his job as the storm set its sights on Florida’s west central coast, Instagram commenters were also doing theirs, with @floridaman saying, “I should call her,” and @missjulieann adding “Idalia Majora” to the conversation.

The discourse is sloppier on Reddit, where users fingered the image’s “labia of uncertainty” and pointed out how the track of the “pussicane” is making it look like the Bay area could “be f****d.”

“One thing we know for sure is it’s gonna get wet,” another user added.

The Times also appears to be enjoying everyone’s “Wet Ass Peninsula” jokes, and even commented, “You know if this is how you guys find our IMPORTANT content about this storm, then so be it.”

The graphic has since been shaved off Instagram, but it still lives on the front page of the Times website, and in a different color on the post itself.

Different iterations of the, thing, have even found their way onto the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, with users immortalizing not just the Times pussycane, but also zoom.earth hurridong and whatever it is WFTS superstar meteorologist Denis Phillips has his finger on.
