Two Republicans and one Democrat qualified before a noon Tuesday deadline to run in a special election to replace former Sen. Blaise Ingoglia, a Spring Hill Republican who was appointed state chief financial officer last month.

Former Rep. Ralph Massullo, R-Lecanto, Inverness Republican Anthony Brice and Ash Marwah, a Democrat from The Villages, will vie in Senate District 11, which is made up of Citrus, Hernando, Sumter and part of Pasco counties.

A special Republican primary will be held Sept. 30, while a special general election is scheduled Dec. 9.
