TIGLFF screens "poignant, sexy" rom-com tonight

The title is Boy Meets Girl but we suspect there's more to it than that.

Boy Meets Girl has been a hit on the festival circuit. The romantic comedy directed by Eric Schaeffer is a touching coming of age comedy will be screening at freeFall tonight at 7:30 p.m.

The film's plot follows three 20-year-olds living in Kentucky: Robby, (Michael Welch, Twilight), lifelong friend and stunning transgender female Ricky. Disappointed in her new dating pool of eligible bachelors, Ricky opts for someone on her own, new team. She meets Francesca, a Marine wife waiting for fiance to return from the war. Once things get a little more than friendly, Robby realizes he isn't too thrilled about it and has to come to terms with his own feelings.

"This is a sex/human positive modern fable and identification with its story crosses all gender and sexual orientation lines," says Margaret Murray of the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, which is presenting the film to raise funds for the local film festival.

Tickets are $12.  freeFall Theatre is at 6099 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. For more info on upcoming TIGLFF events, visit tiglff.com.
