Turanchik to make endorsement in Tampa mayor race; Analyzing why Dick Greco isn't in the runoff, and the Tampa Bay area has now become a hotbed of political activism -for at least 1 weekend: Mitch Perry Report 3.7.11

Today. Ed Turanchik resurfaces for the first time since his defeat in the Tampa mayor's race. The man who was endorsed by the Tampa Tribune and Creative Loafing for mayor will make his own endorsement in the Rose Ferlita-Bob Buckhorn contest.  Over the weekend Tom Scott endorsed Mr. Buckhorn.

The only one of the three vanquished candidates from last week's election who won't be endorsing is Dick Greco.  This morning CL analyzes a few reasons why Greco came up short last week in his bid for an unprecedented fifth term in office.

It was a very busy weekend for news and political activism.  There were different protests held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which we recap here.

If it's Monday, it must be time to review the Sunday news shows.  For sheer entertainment, there was Michelle Bachmann making her prime time debut on Meet The Press. And Keith Ellison and Peter King debating the wisdom of King's upcoming Congressional hearing on Muslim extremism in America.

And we don't want you to miss our post on the Mike Suarez-Curtis Stokes debate from Friday.

Oh, and let us mourn the departure of St. Petersburg Times reporter Colleen Jenkins, whose last day on the job was Friday.  Jenkins will be reporting for Reuters in North Carolina.  A huge loss to the paper.  Best of luck to you, Colleen.
