The Ubuntu Food Truck opened Sept. 6, 2025 at 1720 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, Florida.

Ubuntu, the award-winning food truck known for its bold fusion cuisine, is putting down roots in St. Petersburg this weekend.

Raymond Darden and his team soft-launched their first permanent location at 1720 Central Avenue in the Edge District on Sept. 2 before a grand opening celebration last Saturday.

The name Ubuntu comes from the South African philosophy meaning “human connection and kindness”—Darden’s way of telling customers he’s as passionate about community as he is about flavor.

The new space will feature outdoor seating, music, and games. Popular menu items include the Best of the Bay-winning wings, vegan-friendly Impossible empanadas, and Rapture sandwich—a trademarked masterpiece stacked with shaved ribeye, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and house-made Bacon Rapture Sauce.

To celebrate, Ubuntu is offering BOGO Raptures and pulled pork fries through its first month, in-person and online.

Guests can keep up with the latest menu updates, events, and hours at ubuntufoodtruck.square.site, or by following @ubuntufoodtruck on Instagram and Facebook.
