Of course there are too many polls, and as every candidate generally says of them, "the only poll that counts is on November 2."  Soon enough, that will literally be true, but the Alex Sink camp has to feel a little better this morning than yesterday when it comes to these surveys.

That's because Quinnipiac today has the Democrat up by 1%, 44%-43%.

In the survey, Sink still shows a much more favorable rating than Scott (she's at 43-40%, while Scott gets a negative 39-50%), but all that shows is the rather troubling fact for her that having that "D" next to her name could ultimately drag her down on Election Day.

Still, it's a better survey to study than yesterday's NY Times poll, which had Scott up a solid 5%, 44%-39%.

Meanwhile, in another indication of an enthusiasm gap, the top of the GOP ballot, Scott and Senate candidate Marco Rubio, drew close to 1,000 people to see them in Sarasota yesterday, while Alex Sink had all of 200 people hang with her and Rod Smith at a barbecue west of Delray Beach.

Local Democratic officials are certainly hoping they bring more than 200 people late this afternoon to the Ritz in Ybor City, where the Sink-Smith ticket will make one final Tampa appearance at an event scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.).
