Rick Scott has until Saturday to sign, veto, or ignore HB 1355, better known as the elections reform bill that state Democrats and editorial writers are aghast at, referring to it as a voter suppression bill (the legislation would also pass if Scott opts to be passive and not sign or veto it).
UPDATE:Rick Scott has signed the election bill. Look for more information on this blog soon.
As we reported on Tuesday, Scott has been vague on his thoughts what he would do with the bill, other than to say he won't be deterred or intimidated about signing it because of the threat of litigation, which the ACLU and the League of Women Voters have intimated (a lawsuit has already been filed in Miami-Dade, since early voting in their mayoral contest could be affected).
In the hours leading up to his decision, the Florida elections law is drawing more national attention.
