Video shows alligator named 'Big Head Fred' eating smaller gator at Florida spring

Last March, a similar incident occured in Lakeland, when a gator named "Grandpappy" decided to eat a 6-foot gator on a golf course.

Big Head Fred is hungry, and meat is back on the menu, boys.

A recent video posted to Facebook by Kayla Jane of Kayla Jane's Crystal Kayaks shows a large alligator in Florida's Silver Springs savagely enjoying a much smaller gator for lunch.

"Big Head Fred is back at it again," says the video's caption, as the cannibal gator can be seen whipping around the motionless gator.

"Hey Fred!!! I think it's dead already!!! Daaaaang," said a commenter.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), there are roughly 1.3 million alligators in the state of Florida, in all 67 counties, and this type of "cannibalistic" behavior is actually pretty normal.

There are multiple reasons for a gator to snack on another gator, says the FWC, especially since the animals are incredibly territorial and often compete for resources and mates.

Last March, a similar incident occured in Lakeland, when a gator named "Grandpappy" decided to eat a six-foot gator on a golf course.

Even so, it's still pretty jarring to witness.

In another recent video posted by Kayla Jane, a headless gator can be seen floating in the spring with a missing head.  "Big Head Fred's latest victim, No head Ted," says the video's caption.

It's unclear if the gator is the same victim seen in the previous video.

RIP, No Head Ted.
