Lorena Grizzle has an uphill battle in her second attempt to unseat State Rep. Larry Ahern, a Seminole Republican.
He's got the incumbent advantage and enjoys extensive support from his party.
But Grizzle, an educator, may have a Trump card — and it's not Ahern's full-throated support of divisive, offensive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
On Monday morning, YouTube video uploaded on Sunday, Oct. 16 surfaced in which it appears as though Ahern is asleep during a legislative hearing in which a controversial funding proposal for Enterprise Florida was being discussed. It is unclear who took the video.
In the video, Ahern has his head bowed and his eyes look like they're closed, though it is possible that he is looking down at his phone.
Ahern's campaign has not returned an email requesting comment.
Grizzle tweeted the video Sunday night, joking that he was "hard at work" as his colleagues discussed the potential spending of $250 million in taxpayer money.
