Warehouse fire at St. Petersburg's Mazzaro’s Italian Market causes at least $75,000 in damages

Fire officials say no one was hurt, but the market is closed for the weekend.

There's "a big mess to clean up" at Mazzaro's Italian Market after a warehouse fire broke out on Friday night.

"No one was injured but we have damage... because of that we will be closed today-Saturday," Mazzaro's wrote on Facebook. "We will continue to post updates here... please know we are working as hard and fast as we can to reopen our doors. Thank you for your understanding."

St. Petersburg Fire Department Lt. Steve Lawrence told the Tampa Bay Times that the fire — which a police officer noticed around midnight on Friday — burned for about 30 to 40 minutes and caused an estimated $75,000 to $100,000 in damage.

No one was hurt, and the front public area of the popular restaurant was not affected, but Lawrence said that all product in the room was lost.
