Weedon Island Cultural and Natural History Center is always offering fun, educational activities for the public to enjoy. This weekend, area folks can take part in the Weedon 101 Workshop: Wetland Environments, the second in a series of programs offered year-round that provide participants with a general overview of the diverse range of environments and organisms found at Weedon Island Preserve.
Each program consists of two components: a classroom presentation (6-7 p.m. Thurs., July 21) and a field session (10 a.m.-noon Sun., July 24). The field session gives interested parties a chance to explore the wetlands surrounding the preserve. Using a variety of sampling techniques, participants examine the mixture of organisms that exist in this environment, and learn why they play an important part in keeping Weedon Island Preserve healthy and happy.
This event is free and open to the public but reservations are greatly appreciated. For more information, call 727-453-6500.
