Last month the Washington D.C.-based Urban Land Institute (ULI) released their recommendations for improving Tampa's urban neighborhoods, part of a 12-month study on economic development that the agency is working on for Tampa and three other U.S. cities.

Part of that plan includes razing Tampa Housing Authority’s North Boulevard Homes public housing complex.

Even though the ULI's study is just a blueprint of suggestions, activists say it's moving much too quickly without input from the residents of North Boulevard Homes and their neighbors.

"We are out front trying to raise awareness and galvanize the residents to speak out to have a seat at the table to impact the decision-making process," said the Reverend Charles McKenzie of the Rainbow PUSH coalition, one of the main organizers of a rally held on Main Street in West Tampa on Saturday.
