The only art show in Florida to be selected in Southwest Art Magazine's "2006 Collector's Preview" (was someone confused about the actual whereabouts of the southwest?), the seventh annual Wildlife and Western Visions Art Show includes original paintings, bronze sculptures and limited-edition prints by 18 award-winning artists. Among them are David Yorke, who produces realistic oil paintings of traditional Native American and pioneer life; Oreland Joe, a Ute-Navajo sculptor who shapes stone into intricate carvings depicting Native-American rituals, ceremonies, dances and other cultural aspects of tribal life; and Julia Rogers, who's known for her fine oil paintings of African wildlife. Also featured is a tribute to the late Ray Swanson, "Cowboy Artist of America," with several of his original paintings on display courtesy of the Tom and Mary James/Raymond James Art Collection. For more information, call the Plainsmen Gallery at 727-726-5100. April 29-30, noon-5 p.m. Sat., 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sun., Raymond James Financial Center, Tower IV, 880 Carillon Parkway, St. Petersburg, free admission, www.wildlifeartshow.com.
