When it comes to the 27th Annual Bay Area Renaissance Festival, what's the real appeal? Not the Mud Show, not the live jousting, not the Washing Well Wenches or any of the other assorted motley fools. We're talking about boiled corn. We're talking about candied nuts, fries, ice cream and all the other luscious victuals (they must marinade those turkey legs in some sort of crack reduction). If you're looking to keep the calorie count down, though, there are diversions-a-plenty. This happens to be Highland Fling weekend, so if you're down with the Scottish tunes, caber toss and guys goin' commando in their kilts, this is the place to be. Saturdays and Sundays through April 9, Fowler Avenue and 46th Street (at MOSI), $15.95 adults/$12.95 seniors/$7.95 ages 5 and up, 800-601-4848, www.renaissancefest.com.
