If you know anything about the nation of The Gambia, you may know about the beautiful West African coast that has become a thriving tourist destination for European vacationers.
Several people, however, are not aware of the struggles The Gambias inhabitants face when trying to make a living.
The Gambia has a great deal of agricultural potential, but problems such as hungry baboons and animals, droughts and little to no means of irrigation prevent farmers from earning any money. Young men often are forced to leave the country for more urban regions in hopes of finding work.
Sandy Martin established the Home Farm Project in 2004 to help the nations rural communities by providing farmers with basic training, tools and resources needed to build productive, income-generated farms.
