Florida lawmakers advance bill to keep churches open during pandemics

“It is born out of the pandemic, but not,” sponsor Jason Brodeur, R-Sanford, said when asked if the measure applies only to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Basically, if Target and Publix are open, so too should be the religious institution.”

Brodeur’s proposal would prohibit emergency orders restricting religious institutions from holding services or activities.
