Soccer Mommy's highly-anticipated debut, Clean, is on pace to be one of the best albums of 2018, but this year just got much, much better for Minneapolis, Boston, Brooklyn and Chicago fans of Sophie Allison's haunting and beautiful brand of indie-rock because she's apparently opening on a few dates of Liz Phair's Exile In Guyville anniversary tour.
Allison said so today during an interview with WBUR's On Point, and confirmed the news on Twitter.
Phair's dates are in support of a new Guyville box set which features songs she recorded with her pre-Matador Records band Girly-Sound. According to P4K, the Girly-Sound tapes are featured in Phair’s new seven-LP Girly-Sound to Guyville: The 25th Anniversary Box Set. The set includes a remastered reissue of Phair's debut record, a book featuring an oral history by Jason Cohen, and essays by Phair and Ann Powers. The box set (also available digitally and in a 3xCD edition) arrives on May 4 via Matador.
Full details on the the dates are not out yet, but tickets to the Chicago and Brooklyn dates start at $35. Tickets for the Brooklyn show go on sale Friday, March 23 at 10 a.m. local time.
