St. Petersburg is the place to be this weekend for jazz lovers, but the Tampa Jazz Club has a spot of alternative programming care of drummer Thomas Carabasi, who’s played with Brazilian pianist Manfredo Fest, legendary pianist Kenny Drew, Jr. and more. Undersung Tampa Bay guitarist LaRue Nickelson—along with saxophonist Daniel Jordan, bassist Alejandro Arena and Patrick Bettison (on harmonica and piano)—join Carabasi for his one that’ll be rich in samba and bossa nova classics along with lesser known Brazilian cuts.
