Reactions to Tampa’s Riverwalk Place range from straight-up mean (“I hope that building crumbles to the ground.”), excited (“What an amazing new addition to the skyline”) and concerned (“One more symbol of the inequity that is destroying our country.”).
Well, your feelings are somewhat irrelevant right now because construction on what will be the tallest building on Florida’s west coast is probably going to start before the end of the first quarter of 2019, according to TBBJ.
The condo and office tower is slated to go up on the intersection of Ashley Drive and Brorein Street, which is a short walk away from Amalie Arena, the Tampa Convention Center and Publix.
Prices for any of the condo units run from the $600,000s to $2 million.
In September, managing partners of the project were being conservative about when construction would start, citing a need to gauge interest in the project.
“We’re not going to start until we are sure people want to live there and we’ve gotten it right,” they said, adding that, “We feel very confident this is going to go great.”
Feelings confirmed.
In November, developers scrapped plans for office space in the tower, saying that demand for condos was too strong to ignore. Pre-sales are apparently at $80 million, so expect to hear some clanging and banging on the block sooner than later.
