WMNF Birthday Party w/Johnny Zoom Hi-Fi Show After Irma cancelled the original plans, Tampa Bay community station WMNF 88.5 FM finally gets to celebrate 38 years of being a foil to commercial radio by doing what so many other socially conscious, music-loving almost-40-year-olds do: heading to the local brewery, eating Cuban food and reading the paper. Tampa Bay Times columnist Daniel Ruth is the evening’s featured speaker (so you won’t have to actually read the rag), and DJ Scott Imrich plus surf-rocker Johnny Zoom will make sure there’s enough hand-picked local music to nosh on, too. ✔️  Monday Night Jazz Series: Moanin’: A Tribute to Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers In the late ‘40s, the late (and great) Art Blakey formed a big band called 17 Messengers. The ensemble would go through a handful of different mutations over the years, and now, almost three decades after Blakey’s death, USF’s faculty jazz ensemble will join forces with dummer Eddie Metz and saxophonist Mike Tracy to pay tribute to the Messengers’ 1958 Blue Note classic, Moanin’. Rock and Soul w/DJ Blenda DJ Blenda guests on one of the Hub's most popular monthly events. If it's a vinyl-driven night of foot-shuffling soul you're looking for, then maybe tie one on here. (The Hub, Tampa) INFO

George Lynch Guitar Clinic Lynch Mob guitarist George Lynch caps off his extended stay in the Bay area (the band played St. Pete over the weekend) with a free guitar clinic at this Tampa shop. VIP tickets are available if you need to get up in the man's personal space, too. (Replay Guitar Exchange, Tampa) INFO
