The female Uber driver who accused Jameis Winston of sexually assaulting her during a 2016 ride in her vehicle has filed a lawsuit against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, according to multiple reports.
Buzzfeed News, which was the first media organization to report on the allegation in November 2017, writes that the lawsuit was filed on Monday in the U.S. District Court for Arizona. Identified as Kate P. in court documents, the driver is seeking more than $75,000 in damages after she said Winston grabbed her crotch in the drive-thru line of a Mexican restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Winston denied the sexual assault allegation — which isn’t his first, in case you've forgotten (but something tells us you haven’t) — for seven months after it came to light. In June, this latest accusation ultimately resulted in his three-game suspension by the NFL, and following the NFL’s decision, Winston issued a statement of apology to the driver “for the position I put you in.”
The Bucs are scheduled to play their third game of the season on Monday, Sept. 24. However, if quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick keeps up his #FitzMagic-fueled duties in Winston’s absence, which have led the team to their first 2-0 start since 2010, what the heck is stopping the Bucs from morphing Fitzpatrick’s temporary position into a permanent one?
