Friday, February 8, 2019, was a special day for the Doble family, founders and owners of Tampa Bay Brewing Company, one of the oldest craft beer concerns in the state.
The three Doble brothers, who have three breweries, finally got together to brew a special collaboration beer for this year’s installment of the annual Tampa Bay Beer Week (March 2-10). The three brothers came together at the urging of Joel Bigham of the new Fermented Reality Bier Garten at uber-hip Tampa foodie destination Sparkman Wharf, who is a friend of the brothers.
The New England-style hazy IPA recipe was developed with input from Bigham and all of the brothers, then brewed at TBBC’s venerable brewpub in Ybor City. It will be released at Fermented Reality on March 6 during a Tampa Bay Beer Week “Doble Brew Day” special event. Along with the collaboration brew, other beers from the three brothers’ breweries will be on tap as well as a sort of showcase of Doble-centric brews.
The Doble brothers hail from three breweries in three states. David is here in town at Tampa Bay Brewing Company, established in 1995; Mark has had his own Aviator Brewing Company in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, near Raleigh, since 2008; and I founded The Explorium Brewpub in Milwaukee in 2016.
John, Vicki, and David Doble established Tampa Bay Brewing Company with fourth brother Johnny Doble in 1995. Johnny passed away in an accident in 2003, and David re-entered the business to assume Johnny’s ownership responsibilities. We other brothers started much later, but have built respectable breweries of our own in other areas of the U.S.
See you at Tampa Bay Beer Week 2019!
