Blind Buddy Moody

Fans of authentic roots music were taken aback this year by the emergence of Blind Buddy Moody. Ably wielding an acoustic guitar and harmonica, the seasoned singer grabs audiences with his gutsy interpretations of classic country and blues numbers by the likes of Jimmie Rodgers and Hank Williams. Credit Mojo Gurus frontman Kevin Steele for the find. Moody had opened shows for George Jones, Waylon Jennings and others in decades past. But he was performing at a local flea market when Kevin spotted him and become an instant fan, eventually introducing the veteran singer to his brother/manager Brett Steele, who agreed that Moody deserved a wider audience. These days, Moody can be regularly seen performing at local venues like Ringside Café, opening for the Gurus or headlining his own shows. The “real deal” troubadour also has released a live CD titled See No Evil that was recorded at Dave’s Aqua Lounge. On it, you can hear CL music critic Wade Tatangelo voicing his approval in between songs. MySpace.com/blindbuddymoody.
