An IADT student design at last year's Strut

Softly contoured layers in light, airy fabrics, vibrant colors and floral touches, asymmetrical hemlines, detail-driven craft-based pieces and body-con styles, a particular focus on legs with micro-minis and short shorts — expect to see these spring/summer style trends and many others on a runway near you when the International Academy of Design and Technology presents Strut 2007. The annual student fashion show has expanded to include more than 250 professional level designs by 70 student designers and it's possibly one of the most highly anticipated fashion event of the year, both for its youthfully exuberant yet sophisticated level of creative experimentation by the student designers, and because we get very few runway shows in Tampa. The Design Expo Gallery of art and multi-media creations by IADT students opens to the public at 4 p.m., with the runway show beginning at 8 p.m. Sat., May 12, Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Franklin St., downtown Tampa, $40 floor seating/$20 general/$10 students with I.D., 800-222-3369, academy.edu.
