✔️ Queen Naija Need to break up with somebody? Let Queen Naija do it for you. Two of the 23-year-old’s hits — “Medicine” and “Karma” — have earned the Detroit singer and songwriter a reputation for crafting biting, often humorous, next-gen soul, and several of the shows on this tour were sold out before doors even opened. Her mastery of that damn internet led the New York Times to dub Naija “ the first soul star of the social media generation,” but she’s so much more than that. A debut, self-titled EP is rich in storytelling and even ventures into gospel territory during “Mama’s Hand,” where Naija thrillingly walks listeners through the ups and downs of being a new mom. Expect members of her already rabid fanbase to know all of the words at what is sure to be yet another packed, post-millennial soul concert at this Ybor City venue that’s hosted a lot of them as of late. Record Store Day Black Friday Did you think that the biggest retail holiday in America wouldn’t have a Record Store Day component? For shame. An extension of the April event that celebrates independent record shops, this small-scale, post-Thanksgiving iteration also boasts limited-edition releases including a picture disc of Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein’s Stranger Things: Halloween Sounds Of The Upside Down, and a picture disc edition of Smashing Pumpkins’ new album Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun. The big find for nerds with loads of disposable income would be Weezer’s cover of Toto’s “Africa,” which comes on a 10-inch picture disc that comes, you guessed it, in the shape of Africa. Stuff from Coltrane, OutKast, the Grateful Dead, Madonna, Kacey Musgraves, Rage Against the Machine, the Flaming Lips, and more round things out, and a few of the go-to shops in town (Mojo Books & Records in Tampa, Planet Retro and Daddy Kool in St. Petersburg to name a few) have ordered some of the official and unofficial RSD Black Friday titles. This, however, is mostly a reminder for you to treat every day as if it was Record Store Day.

Solar w/Brian Busto/Dani Orieta/Sophee And if that new breed of dance music just isn’t your thing, then the Serious Soul collective has your back with this basement gig featuring San Francisco DJ and producer Solar Langevi, who hopped on the fast track to house music infamy when he linked up with Dutch duo Dekmantel Soundsystem (before that, he dutifully cut his teeth in the Golden City’s underground scene). Bay area scene staple Brian Busto celebrates his birthday at this show and plays support for Langevi as well. (SubCentral at Iberian Rooster, St. Petersburg) INFO

KC and the Sunshine Band You know that long-lost relative you haven’t seen in a decade? Bring them to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Friday, because KC And the Sunshine band hasn’t been to that venue in 10 years either. The lineup for the mid-’70s disco and funk band from Hialeah, Florida looks a little different these days, but then again, so does uncle Tony, and he can still shake his booty, right? Esque w/Stephanie D’Angelo/Fam/Speak Easy Quite a few tracks on the debut album from Bay area pop songwriter Esque are pretty damn catchy, and while we’ve yet to see him try and bring “Summer Breeze/Graphic Tees” to life in the live setting, this low-key Black Friday show at a new downtown Tampa spot might be enough to shake us from our leftover turkey sandwich coma. Seven Lions “First Time” — Seven Lions’ latest single with SLANDER, Dabin and Dylan Matthew — is burning up Billboard’s dance charts, and if you haven’t heard of the guy, then we’re not going to blame you for being older than 30. Booking the hottest next big EDM thing is nothing new for The Ritz’s end-of-the-workweek “#Pound Friday” party (Seven Lions is the moniker of headbanging, 31-year-old Southern California producer and remixer Jeff Montalvo), and the soiree is not going to take a week off because of the holiday. Don’t expect the club’s devotees to sit on the bench either, and if you’re feeling really adventurous, then why don’t you bring your little, of-age, out-of-town cousins to the party so you can forever be known as the cool old person they get to see when swinging through Florida.
