Another show bites the dust: Blondie at Ruth Eckerd Hall canceled

In what is becoming an all too familiar trend this fall concert season, artists are scheduling dates in Florida, then postponing these dates (as with Elvis Costello and his family emergency) or dropping them all together (as with Ween, which was supposed to come here before hitting Langerado, until the festival was canceled due to poor ticket sales). The latest artist to take Florida off their tour map is Debbie Harry-led Blondie. According to the official Ruth Eckerd Hall release, "due to a conflict in their schedule Blondie has canceled the Florida segment of their concerts in September." Strange, since both of the concerts (one in Clearwater, the other in Hollywood) have been scheduled for a few months — so whatever conflict came up, it was well after the dates were confirmed and seeing as the shows are not due to be rescheduled, it makes me wonder how badly tickets were moving down here, especially when the lowest ones were $35 a piece...

Ruth Eckerd has requested that locals return their tickets by October 10, 2011 to avoid delays in processing refunds. Those being held at the ticket office will be automatically refunded, and all refunds will be issued to the credit card of purchase.
