Indie darlings in Orlando

MusicMonday, April 9

David Bowie's favorite live act, TV on the Radio, comes no closer to the Bay area than Orlando, so you'll have to make an hour-plus trek to enjoy a concert by Brooklyn's super dynamic alt-indie fivesome. The band's sinister, atmospheric, percussion-heavy rock is flavored with elements of electronica and hip-hop, and marked by the ferociously soulful vocals of Tunde Adebimpe. Its latest release, Return to Cookie Mountain, was possibly one of the most original albums to come out in 2006 and was recognized as such by both Spin Magazine and Pitchfork Media. Don't let the semi-long drive deter you — this show is highly recommended and definitely worthy of your time. The Noisettes — U.K. female-fronted TV on the Radio-like foursome — open. Mon., April 9, 8 p.m., Club Firestone, 578 N. Orange Ave., Orlando, $17/$20, 407-872-0066, clubatfirestone.com.
