Let's face it: Times are still really hard for a lot of us, and while seasonal employment isn't exactly the same thing as finding one steady job that pays truly livable wage, a holiday job can help ease the financial burden (albeit temporarily) at many homes.

That's why it's good to know that JCPenney — which has 10 stores within 50 miles of the Bay area — plans to hire approximately 39,000 seasonal associates across the country, with 2,500 of those jobs being in Florida.

The Tampa Bay area will see the hiring of 400 seasonal associates who'll be hired for a variety of positions including cashier, replenishment specialist, Sephora beauty consultant inside JCPenney and more.

To fill the seasonal positions, JCPenney is hosting its second annual National Hiring Day event on Tuesday, October 16 from 2-8 p.m.

"During the event, management will be holding in-person interviews and making employment offers to qualified candidates on-the-spot," the company said in a release. "All skill levels are welcome and individuals are encouraged to apply online at jcpcareers.com or in-store at one of our applicant kiosks prior to attending the event. "

If you're the overeager type, then you'll be happy to learn that in 2018, JCPenney is introducing generous reward packages to eight randomly drawn associates as a way to attract and retain associates this holiday season.

The release said that available awards include $5,000 trips to Banff, Alberta, Canada; New York City; and Miami — all three of which include paid lodging, airfare and entertainment. What's more is that five other lucky winners will receive a prize package worth $5,000, each with a different theme, including smart home, outdoor, technology and glamour bundles.

All hourly associates and seasonal associates in stores, supply chain and call centers that remain with the Company through Dec. 29, 2018 are eligible to win, according to the release.
