Flat-screen TVs in the Ray Jay

It’s tough budget times in Florida for teachers, cops, firefighters, parks employees and all local governments. So what better time to spend $1.5 million of taxpayers’ money to install high-definition, flat-screen televisions (at $4,000 each) in the club level concourse and luxury suites at Raymond James? Apparently that’s what the Tampa Sports Authority thought late last year when it authorized the massive electronics spending spree. The rationale: We need to replace the old TVs in the suites at some point anyway, and this way they will be in place so that the fat cats who wheel into town for Super Bowl XLIII next February can enjoy the game in HD instead of actually turning around in their seats and seeing it played live on the field. Now that’s a suite deal.
