Tampa’s Sunset Music Festival is officially back. After seeing the second day of its 2018 edition rained out, organizers have returned with a phase one lineup for the Memorial Day weekend party, which happens on 25-26 at Raymond James Stadium.
More than two dozen acts were revealed on Monday morning, including Skrillex and Boys Noize side project Dog Blood. Other highlights on the bill include a sunset set from Chicago producer Kaskade and other iconic EDM giants like Rusko, Audien and 12th Planet.
CL’s resident club correspondent LJ Hilberath thinks that the lineup is one of Sunset’s best, citing the festival’s decision to ditch a previous model that found Sunset mostly booking acts that had recently played The Ritz in Ybor City (a venue owned, in part, by Sunset organizers).
Also notable is Sunset’s abandonment of trap (sorry, Chad), hardstyle and poppy headliners like Marshmello and Chainsmokers. Instead, the phase one lineup leans on big names in house music (Fisher, Chris Lake, Steve Darko) plus exciting indie acts like Liquid Stranger and Ganja White Night.
“Even the ‘sad boy’ crowd will be happy with both Said the Sky and Alison wonderland on the bill,” according to Hilberath.
Tickets to the festival go on sale Tuesday, January 15 at 10 a.m. EST. More than 20 more artists are expected to be added to the lineup. See the full lineup below.
