A "Sunshine State, Known Pleasures" parody shit.

If you’ve enjoyed pretty much any modern indie-pop, punk or rock band over the last half century, then you probably have Joy Division to thank. On Friday, posh St. Petersburg dive The Bends will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band’s indescribably influential 1979 album, Unknown Pleasures by tapping DJ Sugarbear and Shadow Run Bros. to play cuts from the effort, other Joy Division songs and lots of tunes that are derived from the Unknown Pleasures seed.

There’s no cover, and this may be the only time when everyone wearing an Unknown Pleasures spin-off T-shirt actually knows what the Peter Saville design actually stands for.

Fri. June 7, The Bends, 919 1st Ave N., St. Petersburg. Time 9 p.m. INFO.
