Tampa Theatre hosts another Rosa Rio-enhanced Silent Film Special Event on Sunday afternoon. This time around, Rio's lively playing on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ accompanies two Buster Keaton comedies. In the 18-minute short, Cops, the deadpan, flat-hat-wearing actor tries to impress his wealthy and demanding girlfriend by becoming more business savvy. Instead, he gets caught up in a series of unfortunate mishaps and manages to piss off the entire police force. In the feature presentation, Sherlock Jr., Keaton plays a movie projectionist who fantasizes about becoming a detective. One evening, after he is falsely accused of stealing from his girlfriend's father, Keaton's character dreams himself into the film he's projecting and amidst a series of incredible and hilarious physical gags, solves a crime strikingly similar to the one he faces in real life. Counted among Time's All-Time Best 100 Movies and widely considered to be one of Keaton's best works, Sherlock Jr. is a must-see for those who considers themselves film fans.
