Flamingos. They’re... peculiar. Their knees go backward, they have to bend in half to eat, and their beaks remind you of the scoops you use at the candy bin. But they’re also charming AF: they’re big wild pink things, which otherwise only happens after too much absinthe. The collective noun for them is “flamboyance,” so when you go to the Flamingo Festival you will see a flamboyance of flamingos, which is not only charming but so much fun to say. Which is why you should go. Also why you should go: the gardens themselves have plants more than a century old, there’ll be live music and if you wear pink you get a free flamingo chick to take home. OK, that last one isn’t true, but you will get $1 off admission.
