Starting this month, locals will have the chance to score a modern taste of Oktoberfest in downtown Tampa. The Tampa Downtown Partnership recently teamed up with a cultural arm of the German government, Goethe-Institut USA, to bring a pop-up biergarten known as "Wiesn in a Box" to three locations.

The traveling experience plans to offer products from the world-famous Hofbräuhaus (so, yeah, big-ass mugs of beer) and freshly baked pretzels from a little Bauhaus-style trailer with an order window, in addition to traditional seating. Games and music are also featured.

Wiesn in a Box will occupy MacDill Park Feb. 15 to 17, then the Barrymore Hotel Feb. 25 to 27. Its tour wraps up locally after a stint in the Grand Central at Kennedy courtyard between March 1 and 3.
