Miss McGee's Creature Feature at St. Petersburg's freeFall Theatre shows Gremlins Aug. 18

It's really a film about why you should adopt pets from reputable shelters, if you think about it.

Right, so we didn't realize it was a horror film either. Nevertheless, Tampa Bay's most dramatic drag queen, Miss McGee, will lead an audience full of people still mourning the loss of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 through almost two hours of a film about why you should really only adopt pets from a local shelter and not a strange man in Chinatown. Yes, Gremlins hits the silver screen. Well, not the silver screen so much as the screen in the auditorium at freeFall on St. Petersburg's up-and-coming West Side.

When we think about it, the warnings that came with Gremlins really do apply to Floridians this summer: No food after midnight (weight control — it's bikini season), don't get them wet (red tide) and no bright light (skin cancer!). Yes, folks, the joke's on us: We're all gremlins.

Kidding aside, last weekend's Fright Night was delightfully horrible and, forgetting for a moment that McGee has better legs than anyone in our office, we do love the show Matthew offers with the show.

Wear costumes, please, but no masks or props in the theater, because, well, if we have to explain why, we want to live in your reality.
