For the last five months, Tampa Bay (and the rest of the world) has been scrambling to navigate this new way of life. As we mourn the imminent cancellation of Halloween festivities (although Busch Gardens still wants to scare the shit out of you while socially distancing during Howl-O-Scream), we can still look forward to Christmas festivities.
Wanting to raise our spirits and get spark some excitement, "Miracle at Mezzo," a Christmas-themed pop-up hosted at Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails posted the iconic photo of Kevin McCallister from “Home Alone” along with the caption “100 DAYS UNTIL MIRACLE AT MEZZO.”
This means we can expect the pop-up to return on November 27, aka Black Friday. For those unfamiliar with Miracle at Mezzo, it is a five-week Christmas celebration where the downtown St. Petersburg coffee, cocktail and oyster bar gets laced with lights, garlands, and ribbons accompanied by classic Christmas tunes. There’s even a Buddy The Elf cutout.
Last year, the event poured up nine festival cocktails—including the classic “Christmapolitan” made up of vodka, elderflower, dry vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, lime, rosemary and absinthe mist. Another banger is the “Bad Santa” made up of rum, Batavia Arrack, black Chai tea, date-infused oat milk, and vanilla syrup.
Oh, and you can celebrate your Christmas spirit—or drown your holiday sorrows—with shots. “The Nice Shot” is made up of rum, peppermint tea, and chocolate while the “Naughty Shot” is a mix of bourbon and cinnamon.
Until then, you can slide to Intermezzo for an espresso drink or something bubbly, 111 Central Ave., before the extended celebration of the holidays kicks off.
