Something/Anything? is a recognized classic in a certain circle, but as far as I'm concerned that circle isn't big enough. Todd deftly grafted post-Beatles pop with R&B, near-metal and psychedelia on this sprawling two-disc set. Find it. Buy it. Own it. A timeless slice of sublime pop like "I Saw the Light" shares space with the thick sludge of "Black Mariah," the adrenalized power-pop of "Couldn't I Just Tell You" and the gorgeously heavy ballad "Sweeter Memories." Recently I played both discs through twice, and remain thoroughly committed to the album's status as a masterpiece.
