Being around other people during this holiday season isn’t the safest activity anymore, so go with the next best option: cuddling up with a pet.

The Suncoast Humane Society’s “Holiday Crashers” Foster Care Program initiative started out as a way to recruit volunteers to spend some quality time with our furry friends staying at the shelter during the holidays. The nonprofit decided that being in a foster home is a better solution for the animals, and the program evolved with the goal of recruiting the surrounding community to open their homes and hearts to a lonely pet for the holiday season.

“The holidays this year are different for many of us who won't be traveling or attending traditional events. Hosting a Holiday Crasher is a meaningful way to offer all of the extra love you have to give to a shelter dog or cat. A true gift of compassion,” says CEO Maureen O’Nell.

Suncoast Humane Society provides any supplies needed including food, crates, or medication (if needed). To host a foster pet, submit a foster application through their website here or contact Foster Coordinator Fatime Duka at [email protected].
