Residents of Tampa and St. Petersburg have to wear face masks indoors, and now all of Hillsborough County has to as well.
On Monday, members of the county’s Emergency Policy Group (EPG) voted 5-3 in favor of an order to make the use of face masks mandatory starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Details on the order are forthcoming, but it’ll have to be renewed weekly by the EPG.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor—who made face masks mandatory indoors last Friday—voted “Yes” on the order along with Commissioners Kimberly Overman, Sandy Murman, Les Miller and Temple Terrace Mayor Andy Ross.
“No” votes came from Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister, Hillsborough County School District Chair Melissa Snively and Plant City Mayor Rick Lott.
