WestShore Plaza is about to get a little sweeter, with help from Shelby’s Sugar Shop. Named after a fictional girl who’s traveling from the rural countryside to a big city, the coming-soon Tampa confectionary at 325 WestShore Plaza chronicles Shelby’s adventures through in-store animated vignettes and bridge installations.

Menu items include premium toffees from South Tampa’s family-owned Toffee to Go and Wild Ophelia cold-brew chocolates in flavors like sea salt caramel latte and Mexican vanilla. Here, candies are available in both packaged and bulk form — and by the piece or pound.

“Shelby’s Sugar Shop is just the kind of fun-loving and adventurous experience that everyone can get behind this holiday season and beyond,” said Jay Botsch, general manager of WestShore Plaza, in a statement. “Shelby’s offers everyday wonder at WestShore Plaza and allows us to further diversify our tenancy to provide a dynamic mix of retail options for our guests. We’re looking forward to seeing the faces of adults and children light up as they interact within the retail experience and indulge in the sweet treats.”

Once the WestShore Plaza newbie opens between Macy's and Sears by the end of December or early January, guests will also find a coloring book theme — one of the signature elements of Shelby’s — incorporated into the decor and interactive experiences.

Tampa is among the young Ohio-born candy store’s first round of openings. More locations, owned by Washington Prime Group (which also owns WestShore Plaza), are expected to launch this month throughout the country.
