Sometimes inspiration strikes while he’s dead asleep, but Pastor Tyler Moore always answers the call.
“I’ll wake up, and think, ‘Yeah, that’s a good one,'” Moore, a 33-year-old pastor at the St. Petersburg campus of Our Savior Lutheran Church told CL.
Moore has been a pastor at Our Savior since 2014 and also brainstorms sign ideas with his wife, who shares season tickets with him. He told CL that he’ll throw a new sign up for every playoff game.
The latest message on his congregation’s marquee says “LORD IS MY SHEPHERD. STAMKOS IS MY CAPTAIN.” In the past, Moore has mentioned “Father Yzerman” as an homage to the Bolts’ former general manager.
He also once proclaimed that “JESUS SAVES. STAMKOS SCORES.”
Moore told CL that he and his wife plan to make every playoff game with a few exceptions.
“There are probably going to be some I’ll miss during Holy Week,” Moore explained. “My obligations as a pastor will keep me away.”
He’ll probably be praying for the team, though, and that should be good enough.
