A sign of the times, indeed.

In a sign of the times, Harry Styles and Jenny Lewis have officially rescheduled their Tampa concert at Amalie Arena for October 10, 2021.

On one hand, it’s a long time to wait to see the One Direction-er support his 2019 solo album, Fine Line, but on the other, it’s a sign that the mega-concert industry sees some kind of light at the end of a coronavirus pandemic that’s reshaping the way fans consume live music.

In a recent interview with Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, Kevin Preast—Executive Vice President of Vinik Sports Group, which books Amalie Arena—said the road to reopening Tampa’s largest indoor venue “isn't about being first back to the party. This is about getting everybody back to the party and the health of the industry..."

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of health policies are in place by the fall of 2021.

Styles’ show was originally scheduled for August 3, 2020, and those with tickets to the original date may use them in October 2021. Refund information is available via livenationentertainment.com.

For now, an August 14 appearance by podcast giant Joe Rogan is still on. Several summer shows (including Zion & Lennox, Janet Jackson, Tool and Justin Bieber) are already postponed or canceled outright.
