You and your dog have the perfect date night, coming up soon.

The Dog Film Festival plays in Tampa on October 6. This is a film festival featuring films about dogs — and, you can bring your dog along.

This fest is so dog-friendly, in fact, that according to the festival's promotional materials, dog attendees are even "very welcome and encouraged to speak their minds about the films." Ticket sales benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

The content is also on point: There are two programs of dog-celebrating shorts that'll screen — they include documentaries, animation and live-action dog-themed movies from across the globe.

"The films are chosen entirely for the ways in which they will amuse or affect the humans who love dogs," says organizer Tracie Hotchner, who also hosts the NPR show Dog Talk. "However, I definitely think the dogs love being in the theaters because their owners and the rest of the audience are so incredibly excited to have them there that the canines become the stars of the event."

The Dog Film Festival will be at Water Works Park on the Tampa Riverwalk on Oct. 6. The first program plays at 6 p.m.; the second at 8 p.m. Tickets for the humans cost $12 for one program, $20 for both. Dog tickets cost $5. Pawchase tickets here.
